Rev. William L. (Bill) Sikes October 26, 1934 January 4, 2013

Rev. William L. (Bill) Sikes, 78, of Macon, MO, passed away Friday, January 04, 2013, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon.

Bill was born on October 26, 1934, in Bismarck, MO, the son of James William and Della Grace (Henderson) Sikes. He served his country in the U. S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Bill was united in marriage to Della Millard on November 10, 1954. He was an Ordained Minister with the Assembly of God Church, the founding minister of the United Trinity Church in Macon, and was active in the ministry for 25 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, trying to play golf and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Della of the home, his four children; Denny Sikes and wife, Vicky of Newark, MO, Sheri Purvis and husband, Edgar of Tallulah, LA, Kenny Sikes and wife, Renee of Blue Springs, MO, and Linda Wilson of Mountain Home, AR; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Purvis, Joshua Sikes and wife, Lilias, Caleb Sikes and wife, Amanda, Tianna Brewer and husband, Ernest, Aimee Still and husband, Eric, Brad Harper and wife, Tara, Tyler Sikes and wife, Tina, Kylie Sikes and fiancé, Chris Crichton ; nine and ½ great-grandchildren; and one niece.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty McDowell and one nephew.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 7, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Church of the Nazarene in Macon with Reverend Kelly Perry officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
