Betty Lee Chinn

Betty Chinn, age 85, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at her residence near Clarence.

She was born November 11, 1927, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Lee Francis and Lillian Stewart Boling. On November 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Roy Chinn. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1990. Betty is survived by five children, Martha Wood and husband Chuck of Clarence, MO, Gary Chinn and wife Kathy of Macon, MO, Kathy Thrasher of Clarence, MO and friend Danny Stidham, Connie Thrasher and husband Leslie of Clarence, MO and Roy Lee Chinn of Clarence, MO; ten grandchildren Kelly (Drayse) Wood, Christina (Tracy) Sellmeyer, Kevin (Chris) Chinn, Kyle Chinn, Dwayne (Carrie) Thrasher, Tracy (Matt) Zachariah, Travis (Jessica) Thrasher, Selena (Aaron) Gaines, R. J. Chinn and Danielle Chinn; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret A. Kibler of Wentzville; one brother, Allyn (Marcia) Boling of Clarence, MO; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Mettes of Jefferson City, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one brother, Stewart Boling.

Betty was a graduate of Clarence High school and attended Kirksville State Teachers College and Gem City Business College. She was a member of the Clarence Methodist Church. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, flowers and cooking. She liked to make Christmas candy and distribute it to her family and friends. Betty’s family was her greatest joy and she loved the time she spent with them. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO with burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Clarence from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday. Memorials may be made to Helping Hand of Clarence or Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
