Clara (Fullen) Brewer

Clara Fullen Brewer, 68, of DeRidder, LA, went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2013. She died at M. D. Anderson in Houston, TX, as a result of a long battle of cancer.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Brewer will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, 10:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Burial will be at Lewis Cemetery, DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.

Visitation will begin on Friday, February 15, 2013, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Clara was born on July 16, 1944. She was a graduate from Nederland High School in Nederland, TX in 1962, and then attended McNeese State University where she received a B.S. in Home Economics and a Master of Nutrition from Northwestern State University. While attending McNeese she was a member of the Baptist Student Union & Delta Zeta Sorority. She worked as a registered clinical dietitian at Beauregard Memorial Hospital, Davita Dialysis Unit and Gambro Dialysis Unit. She was a consultant at Nursing Homes, Home Health’s and Group Homes. She taught at DeRidder High School and Northwestern University. She also taught and mentored at Women’s Job Core. She was a member of Diamond Baptist Church for 42 years where she served as a Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher and played the piano. She was survived by her husband of 47 ½ years, John Arthur Brewer of DeRidder, LA, one son, David Brewer of New Orleans, LA; one daughter, Sherry Brewer Saizan and husband David of Moss Bluff, LA; three grandchildren, Ashton Brewer of Lafayette, LA, Bryson Brewer of New Orleans, LA and Amanda Saizan of Moss Bluff, LA and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. H. H. “Bill” and Cecil Broussard Fullen.
