Ellis “Bud” Luther Cary, age 89 of Purcell died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Purcell Municipal Hospital. He was born February 7th, 1924 in Ada, Okla. to Luther W. Cary & Mamie H. (Wells) Cary. He attended Noble & Lexington Public Schools and later enlisted in the United States Navy on September 1, 1942. After three years in the Navy he discharged and returned home to Purcell where he later married Aliene Ruby Bratcher. They were married on July 12, 1947. Bud reenlisted in the Navy 1951 and served 16 months more before being discharged the second time in 1952. He proudly served his country during both the second World War and the Korean Conflict. Bud worked as a crane operator for Tinker Air Force Base from 1952 to 1960. He then became a warehouse supervisor for the Federal Aviation Agency in Okla. City. He retired from FAA on February 7, 1966. After retirement he worked in the maintenance department at Purcell Municipal Hospital. As a hobby, Bud raised miniature Pinchers and his family recalls his countless hours spent playing with his dogs. He also raised a variety of birds. They also remember Bud as being a jokester who always had a great story teller. He loved to tell tales about his life and spend time with his family.
