Ronald T. Conner, 75, of Cass Lake passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Ron was born December 2, 1937 in Cass Lake to William and Mabel (Hill) Conner. He attended school in Deer Creek, Minnesota through the eighth grade and then went to work. Throughout his life he had a strong work ethic and placed great value in being able to provide well for his family. He worked for Wheeler’s for 30 years driving tractor and heavy equipment. In 1970 he started Ron Conner Septic Service, and also owned and operated his towing business for fifteen years. He fully retired at 71 years of age. Ron will be remembered as a man who was purposeful in living his life simply and unselfishly, always putting the needs of others ahead of his own. He was “old fashioned” in his opinions and never held back in speaking his mind. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings. Ron was a proud father and grandfather and throughout the years seldom missed attending their sporting events. His presence will be missed by his family, and by the Cass Lake community.
Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary, of Cass Lake (presently at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji), daughter Tia (Aaron) Barthorpe of Cass Lake, son William Conner of Cass Lake, daughter Kyla Conner of Grand Rapids, nine grandchildren, brother Ken (Jeanette) Conner of Cass Lake, three sisters; Lois Heath and Thelma (Frank) Sigford of Missoula, Montana, Viola Gamache of British Columbia, special nephew Mike Conner (US Army, Afghanistan), and many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Clyde, Marvin and Willard, and sister Peggy Goodrich.
A graveside service and inurnment will be held June 15, 2013 at 11:00 am at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake with a lunch to follow at the Cass Lake American Legion.
