Raymond Charles Miller

U.S. Veteran

Raymond Charles Miller, age 84, a life-long resident of Elwood, ended life’s journey on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness. He was born November 13, 1928 in Elwood, the son of Charles and Katherine (Wechselberger) Miller. He retired in 1986 from Wickes Lumber Company in Elwood where he had worked for more than 33 years as a truck driver. Raymond was a 1946 graduate of Elwood High School, and later served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann Griffin on January 27, 1951. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and the Knights of Columbus. Raymond was also a member of the Mid-America Threshing and Antique Club and the Frankton Antique Tractor Club. He especially enjoyed building things, working on cars, and wood-working. Raymond also enjoyed the social aspects of camping, singing songs, and telling good stories. The family requests that friends of Ray would help send him off to start his new journey with the Lord by keeping fond thoughts and saying a prayer.

His family includes his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Miller of Elwood; 4 children, Steven Miller of Elwood, Kathy (husband Fred) Brink of Banning CA, Susan (husband Ron) Yoder of Goshen, and Gregory Miller of Elkhart; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Kane-Brink, Hilary Anderson, TJ Riddle, Tony Riddle, Andrew Miller, and Jessica Hart; 9 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brittany, Leyton, Maddox, Mark, Grace, Madeline, Lauren and Tyler; special niece, Marcia Collison; and many other nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Delores Wilson and Lenora Parker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood.
