GLENS FALLS --- Thomas A. VanSalisbury Sr., 74, of Haskell Ave., Glens Falls, and formerly of Warrensburg, passed away late Wednesday night, Feb. 6, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital, with his family by his side. Born April 26, 1938 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Charles and Henrietta (Clendente) VanSalisbury. Tom enlisted in the United States Army in Nov. 1961, and was honorably discharged in June 1962. He married Barbara Vernum on Nov. 28, 1980 in New York City, and worked in the city as a dedicated plumber for 25 years. Thomas thought the world of his son and his nephews, and cherished time spent with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, especially going to Pack Forest. In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Johnny, Charles “Sonny”, and George VanSalisbury, three sisters, Mary, and two sisters who died at birth, a granddaughter who also died at birth, Heaven Angel, one nephew, Anthony, and his beloved mini pincher, Major. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara VanSalisbury of Glens Falls; a son, Thomas A. VanSalisbury Jr. of Glens Falls; one daughter, Sabrina Phillips and her husband, David, of South Glens Falls; one granddaughter, Mika Phillips; a brother, Arthur VanSalisbury Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Fla.; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call upon the family Sunday, Feb. 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Warrensburg Cemetery, Hudson St., Warrensburg.
