Gene Bright

U.S. Veteran

Ernest Eugene “Gene” Bright, 86, of Dibble, died February 6, 2013 at his home. The son of Ernest Wilson and Nita Ellen (Medlock) Bright, he was born December 18, 1926 in Mulberry, Arkansas.

Gene served in the United States Air Force during WW II and made his career as an oilfield mechanic. He is a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He always had plenty of vegetables to share with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Bright.

Gene is survived by his wife, Hettie Bright of Dibble; son, Ron Bright and wife, Tana of Blanchard; daughter, Susan Halstead and husband, Jimmy of Oklahoma City; four step-children, Sheila Newman of Miami, Justin Newman and wife, Gloria of Washington state, Tina Kochen and husband, Brad of Colorado, and Carlis Newman and wife, Susan of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; brother, Richard Bright of Blanchard; sisters, Velta Hair and husband, Charles of Okemah and Mary Rayburn and husband, Ronnie of Grove; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service for Gene will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Blanchard with interment following in the Dibble Cemetery.
