Ernestine Chrisman passed away Saturday morning at Bickford Cottage in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She was 84.
Born November 7, 1928 in Hoopeston, Illinois, she was the daughter of C. Ernest and Mildred Cornell Hutson. She graduated from Potomac High School in Potomac, Illinois in 1946. She had been a doctor’s nurse, a practical nurse and a ward clerk. She later was a dog groomer.
Ernestine was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville where she enjoyed women’s Bible study on Wednesday mornings until her health prevented her from attending. She also enjoyed crochet, completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, tending to her parakeet and had painted a Christmas village that she loved to display.
On August 6, 1964 she married Curtis L. Chrisman at the Old Union Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois. He passed away in 2009.
Surviving family members include her son Mark (Melinda) Garfield of Oakwood, IL; daughter Brenda Bogart of Crawfordsville; step-children Dee Church and Robert Chrisman of Opp, Alabama; brother Richard (Anna) Hutson of Danville, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant brother Leland.
Funeral services will be held 3:00PM Wednesday at the First Church of Christ in Covington, Indiana with pastors Bill Cook and Steve Wilke officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3:00PM at the church.
