James Robin Merrill

U.S. Veteran

James Robin Merrill, Sr., 60, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at his residence.

Born November 4, 1952 in Oceanside, CA, he was the son of the late James Harris Haywood and Phyllis Peoples Merrill.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Harpers Ferry Ward.

James was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration for 18 years.

James was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp, serving during the Vietnam era. He was also an avid hunter and Elvis fan.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Terry Merrill, at home; his daughter, Mary Katherine Sage and husband, Daniel of Westminster, MD; his son, James Robin Merrill, Jr. and wife, Brandy of Arbutus, MD; seven grandchildren, Madison, Sophia, Sierra, Caitlyn, James, Jacob and Jason, two sisters, Belinda Wooten and Veronica Sampson, three brothers, Billy Merrill, Sonny Merrill, and Kenny Merrill, numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Harpers Ferry Ward, 343 Carriage Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV with Bishop Gordon Harmon and President Steve Towne officiating. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service.

Interment will be in Uvilla Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be J.R. Merrill, Dan Sage, Sonny Merrill, Billy Merrill, Warren Smith, Brian Smith, Eric Thomas and Randy Merrill.
