Christine G. Bowling

Mrs. Christine G. Bowling, age 84, of 194 Forest Glen Circle, Avondale Estates, GA, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013. Mrs. Bowling was born on April 16, 1928 in Buchanan, GA to the late Hubert and Audrey Smith Garner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, J. M. and Mattie Garner, Emma Martha Vansant and Miley Trelwell Smith; sister, Shelby Jean Garner; and brothers, Elvyn B. Garner and Edwin L. Garner.

Mrs. Bowling was the receptionist for Advanced Security. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, and crocheting. She was a member of the Sunshine Club and Grace United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held in the near future. She is described as having loved people and as having a servant’s heart.

Mrs. Bowling is survived by her loving husband Lawrence to whom she was married on January 1, 1963. She and Mr. Bowling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 1, 2013. She is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Karla Bowling; 3 grandchildren, Megan Bowling, 14 year-old twins, Sarah and Matthew Bowling and 1 great-grandson, Noah Kelly all of Kennesaw, GA; sisters, Mille G. Norrell of Buchanan, Ruth G. Fambrough and Patsy Mobley both of Bremen; and brother, Clifford H. Garner of Tallapoosa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowling were held February 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM from New Canaan Baptist Church with Dr. Aaron Johnson officiating. Her eulogy was given by Tim Bowling. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Jones and Sarah Bowling. Pallbearers serving were Roger Garner, Joe Garner, Mark Mobley, Mitch Mobley, David Norrell, and Billy Sprayberry. Honorary pallbearers were Terry McSwain, Glafus Bowling, Tony Bowling, and Steve Norrell.

Interment followed in New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark Mobley offering the prayer and Steve Norrell providing music.
