Stella Hall

Stella Carnes Hall, 94, passed away on Jan. 26, 2013.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1919 in Wetumka, Okla.

She married Edwin Hall in 1936 and they moved to Blythe in 1937 so Edwin could work on the old Rio Theater on Main St. They were charter members of the Blythe Boat Club and the Palo Verde Promenaders Square Dance Club.

Stella lived in Fallon, Nev. for about 16 years, where she remodeled an old farmhouse, raised calves and worked at a ceramics shop. She made beautiful ceramics and she loved to oil paint. While in Fallon she won many golf tournaments.

She moved back to Blythe in 1981 and lived on Riviera Dr. next to the river she loved and fished almost every day. She spent summers in Utah where she fished and even caught a six-pound trout out of a small spring lake.

Stella also loved to sew. She made all her children's clothes, made costumes for the dancing classes, sewed for the square dancers, and made blouses, bears, etc. to sell at the street fairs here in Blythe.

She never had time for a nap or reading a book as she was a doer and lived life to the fullest.

In 2002, Stella suffered a stroke. Blythe Nursing Care Center was her home for many years, where she was loved by so many people. They took great care of her for 11 years.

Stella had four children: Martha Jean Smith, Baltimore, Md.; Shirley (Dick) Southerland, Blythe; Sherman Hall, Camano Island, Wash.; and Kathleen Sowden, Fallon. She also had 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Burial will be private at Palo Verde Cemetery.
