Frances had been married for over 50 years to Robert Lee Yancey who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her children; Leah (Fred) Matthias, Marla (Harry) Magiera, Janice (Armand) Daniels and Rob (Carmen Fogleman) Yancey; as well as six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Lewis Osterbur.
Frances was born February 11, 1921 in Royal, Illinois the daughter of John and Anna Behrens Osterbur. She spent her childhood in Ridgeville, IL and attended Onarga High School. On graduating from Bradley University in Peoria, she moved to Chicago to work in a research department of Armour & Co. where she met Robert. Eventually they lived in Paxton where Robert owned the Shelby Grain Co. and where she taught home economics for many years at Paxton High School. During that time, she obtained her master’s degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign.
In the 1970’s when financial straits threatened to cut school programs, Frances joined the county extension service in Hardin, IL where they lived until she retired and they moved back to Paxton. Both she and Robert were always active members of First Lutheran Church in Paxton.
In the late 1990’s health issues caused Frances and Robert to move to Cabool, MO where they could live closer to family who could care for them.
Frances was a loving wife, wonderful mother and very caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1419 S. Sam Houston Blvd., Houston, MO 65483.
