Donald Francis Cretella
Retired employee of Bristol-Babcock
Mr. Donald Francis Cretella, of Plantsville, died unexpectedly at the Hospital of Central CT at Bradley Memorial Campus in the presence of his loving wife. He was the husband of Theresa (Caggiano) Cretella.
Donald was born in Waterbury, CT on October 23, 1933, son of the late Frank and Charlotte (Conway) Cretella and the step-son of the late Eva Cretella. He graduated from Driggs Grammar School and Wilby High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After the service he attended the University of CT in Waterbury and Central CT State University and graduated from CT School of Electronics in Hartford in 1962. He worked as a calibrator for Bristol-Babcock. Inc. for 34 years retiring in 1989. He was an honorary member of the URW Local 895, Bristol-Babcock Quarter Century Club, and the American Legion Post 195 Oakville
Besides his wife of 53 years he leaves, a host of close friends and neighbors including his buddy Eric Massari of Waterbury.
Arrangements: Funeral Saturday 10:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
