Vivian L. Green

As surely God is love, Vivian L. Green, entered this world on August 2, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland and was called home to be with the Lord at age 66, on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Mae Barnes-Porter, father, William B. Porter, Jr., and two brothers, Thomas O. Barnes and William Porter. She leaves to mourn her children two daughters; Robyn Hunter of Oklahoma, Felicia Green of Lompoc, four sons; Isaac Fenwick, Jason Fenwick, Troy Barnes and Irving Green of Lompoc, five sisters; Sydney James, Janeth Woolford, Adrienne Johnson of North Carolina, Norma Barnes of Florida and Wanda Morrison of California; three brothers; Heist Barnes of Delaware, Sylvester Barnes and Lucian Barnes of California, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Vivian traveled and lived in many places but her final home was Lompoc, California.

Vivian worked as a Mental Health Worker, Probation Officer, Certified Nurse Assistant, and she also did Modeling. She was the founder of Central Cost Drill Team, co-founder of the 1st African American Festival in Lompoc, community activist, and an Iconic member of the Santa Maria and Lompoc communities. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Eastern Star. Vivian was a devoted member at Mount Zion Church of God In Christ, served as the pastor's aid for more than 15 years. Vivian loved her church and had a special love and relationship with her pastor.

Her life's work consisted of loving, motivating, and caring for all of God's children, whether they were blood related or not. She was a foster parent and a motherly figure to everyone who knew her. Her love was demonstrated through action and caring for as many people as her heart would allot. Vivian will be cherished in the hearts of all of her loved ones, missed by all and forgotten by none.

The wake will be held on January 31st from 4 PM to 8 PM at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc, California. Phone Number (805) 735-7798.

The Funeral will take place on February 1st, 1PM at Mount Zion Church of God In Christ, 419 West Fessler, Santa Maria, California. After laying her to rest at the Lompoc Cemetery her repast will be held at the (VFW) Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1717 100 E. Locust Avenue, Lompoc, California. Memorial contributions can be brought to the VFW during the repast.
