Gregory D. Moss, 59, of Babson Park, Fla., passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at his residence, due to heart failure.
He was born September 18, 1953, in Charleston, to the late Doyle and Gloria Moss. He came to the Lake Wales area from West Virginia in 1992. He was a retired banker, a member of Henry's Fork Baptist Church in Tariff and a member of the Linden Masonic Lodge No. 83 AF&AM, Linden. He was an organizer for Leadership Lake Wales and a member of the Noon Rotary Club. He was an avid golfer and attended the Babson Park Community Church. He was a past member of the board of trustees for Webber International University, where he received his honorary doctorate degree. He was also the Lake Wales Citizen of the Year in 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Denise A. Moss; daughter, Amanda Moss of Babson Park; son, Adam Moss of Babson Park; sister, Cheryl Holbrook of Charleston; and brothers, Kevin Pratt of Charleston, Kyle Pratt of High Point, N.C., and David Moss of St. Albans.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 2, at 1 p.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael F. King officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites, will be at Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
