Brenda Luz Cardenas

Brenda Luz Cardenas, 70, passed away January 26, 2013 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born April 5, 1942 in El Paso, Texas. Brenda is survived by her husband of 48 years Rodolfo Cardenas; Children: Catherine (John) Marshall of Kingwood, TX, David Cardenas of Seattle, WA, Christine (Christopher) McDonald of Abilene, TX; three grandchildren: Jennifer Marshall, David Marshall and Cade McDonald; brother: Dr. Alfonso Holguin of San Antonio, TX; and sisters: Therese Clemmons of Glen Rose, TX and Linda Holguin of El Paso, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfonso and Effie Mae Holguin and brother: Edward Holguin. Brenda was a loving, selfless, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She had a love for art, painting, gardening and animals. She found great joy in nature’s gifts. It was not unusual to find her tending to her flowers or nurturing wildlife. She took pleasure in watching hummingbirds enjoy the homemade nectar she carefully prepared. Brenda was inspired by God’s beauty which was evident in her paintings. She instilled an appreciation of art to her loved ones and would encourage their creativity. A Rosary service will be celebrated on Friday, 7:30P.M, February 1, 2013 at the Chapel of G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home. A Memorial service Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00A.M, February 2, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Richard officiating. Interment will follow to Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests contributions be made to Friends of Hospice, P.O.
