Donald Glen Acres

U.S. Veteran

Donald Glen Acres age 74 of Oneida, departed this life on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Cookeville, TN.   Born on February 17, 1938 in Jamestown, TN, he was the son of the late Arzo and Hattie Thompson Acres.  He was retired from the U.S. Navy serving 20 years, in several locations overseas, and stateside.  His last assignment was at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Pax River, Maryland where he retired. He was also employed for several years at Stuart Petroleum Co. in Piney Point, Maryland and Dyna Corp. at Pax River before returning to Tennessee.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters Paula Kay Acres and Lola Faye Jeffers; 1 infant brother James Harold Acres; and 1 niece Tracy Campbell

Survived by his wife Patricia Jean Newport Acres of Maryland; son Keith Acres and wife Christy of Spokane, Washington; two daughters Lisa Murphy and husband John of Cary, North Carolina, Michelle Ridgell and husband Clyde of St.Inigoes,  Maryland; grandchildren Erin Murphy, Sean Murphy, Jennifer Murphy, Heather Acres, Cory Acres, Jasmine Acres, Patrick Ridgell, Joshua Ridgell, Brianna Ridgell; sisters Rhonda Campbell, Blannie Lou Smith, Brenda Chambers and Roy Greenwood, Dorla Chambers and husband Butch, all of Oneida; brothers Anthony Wayne Acres and wife Dorothy of Kentucky,  Larry Allen Acres and wife Brenda, Gary Michael Acres and Jeffery Lynn Acres all of Oneida;  and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Tennessee and Maryland.

Friends may visit with the Acres family on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6:00 p.m.   until the time of the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Arzo Acres Family Cemetery.  Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.

West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Donald Glen Acres.
