Michael L. Feola Sr.

Mr. Michael L. Feola Sr., 95, of Wolcott, died Friday January 25, 2013 at the VITAS Innovative Hospice Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widower of Rose J. (Garofano) Feola.

Mike was born in Waterbury on January 13, 1918, son of the late Daniel and Stella (Gigandelli) Feola. After graduating High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He and his brother worked as painters in the family painting business “Dan Feola & Sons”. He worked over 50 years as a painter until his retirement. He was a constable and a justice of the peace. He was committed for fifteen years as a Parish Council Member and he was a long time communicant of St. Pius X Church. He was awarded the Outstanding Service Award. He was a member of the Wolcott American Legion Post 165, the Wolcott VFW Post 1979 and he was a proud member of the Wolcott Democratic Men’s Club. He was a supervisor of Peterson Park in Wolcott.

He leaves; a son Michael L. Feola Jr. and Myrna Cintron of Waterbury; a daughter Karen Feola with whom he lived; a brother; Joseph Feola of Harwinton, CT; four sisters, Phyllis Bacco of Watertown, Mary Izzi of Waterbury, Alice Matthews of Prospect, and Stella Gugliotti and her husband Albert of Waterbury; two cherished grandchildren, Michael Feola III and his wife April of Terryville, and Jason Kordys and his fiancée Becky Parker of Waterbury; three great grandchildren, Michael Todd Feola and Autumn Rose Feola both of Terryville, and Brandon Kordys of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by three brothers Charles Feola, Fred Feola, and Larry Feola.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Paul Kelly and the staff of Vitas Innovative Hospice Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care and comfort given to Mike during his stay.

Arrangements: Funeral Monday 8:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
