Donna Jean Lamping

Donna Jean Humphreys Lamping 73 years of age, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 - 10:00 a.m., at St. Louise Catholic Church with Fr. Raul Covarrubiaf officiating. Burial in Challis Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with Rosary’s at 6:00 p.m. at St. Louise Catholic Church in Challis. Donna Jean was born on January 17, 1939 in Lodi, California to Paul Victor Humphreys and Ester A. Hollingsworth Humphreys. She was raised in northern California attending Galt High School and graduating from Rio Vista High School in 1956. She attended Chico State College. She played bassoon and tenor saxophone in band and orchestra both in high school and college. On August 3, 1957 she married Clifford Earl Lamping at the Valley Oaks Grange Hall in Galt, California in Sacramento County. They purchased their marriage license in San Joaquin County at the Stockton California Hall of Records. Three sons were born to this union: Clifford Earl Lamping Jr., Charles Victor Lamping and Christopher Thomas Lamping. In January of 1959 Donna graduated from Humphreys Business College in Stockton, California. In June of 1962 the family moved to Whittier, California in southern California, where she served as a Clerk/Carrier for twenty one years at the Whittier Post Office. She also worked for Bill Byes Keys to Happiness in Whittier, selling instruments and giving music lessons. She worked also as a pianist, playing the organ for chapel services at the Fred Nelles School for Boys in Whittier. In 1975, they bought property on the Salmon River in Salmon, Idaho, building their retirement home in 1991, where they helped raise most of their ten grandchildren. She was a member of St. Louise Catholic Church, having served as a music minister, choir member and on the prayer chain. She was also a member of St. Anne’s Guild and Salmon Al-Anon group. She is survived by husband Cliff Lamping of Salmon, Idaho, sons: Charles Victor Lamping and Christopher (Jennifer) Lamping of Salmon, Idaho; brothers: William Henry (Susan) Farren and Joseph Arthur (Donna) Farren of Galt, California; nine grandchildren: Trisha Laming of Corona, California, Stephanie Lamping, Justin Lamping, Christopher Lamping Jr., Dallas Lamping and Deanda Lamping all of Salmon, Idaho, CJ Lamping of Weiser, Idaho and Candice Lamping of Fullerton, California; great-grandson Logan Jace Cliff Nicolson and brother-in-law Don (Betty) Lamping of Salmon, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her son Clifford Earl Lamping Jr., daughter-in-law Shryl Lamping and grandson Adam Lamping and sister Betty Jo Loop. Donations may be made to the St. Louise Church in Challis, Idaho orChurch of your choice or Salmon Al-Anon Group in Salmon. Arrangements made by Jones & Casey Funeral Home in Challis, Idaho.
