Eugene C. Falcone
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather
Mr. Eugene C. Falcone, 84, of Wolcott, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Viola (Fusco) Falcone.
Gene was born in New Haven on August 4, 1928, son of the late Michael and Vera (Stella) Falcone. He attended Prince St. Grammar School and Hillhouse High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946, where, following basic training in Bainbridge, Maryland, he was assigned to the Pacific Fleet, touring China and Saudi Arabia on the oil tanker U.S.S. Salamonie, followed by his discharge in November of 1947. He moved to Waterbury in 1950 after finding employment at U.S. Time. In 1955 he joined the Waterbury Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1995. While a Police officer, he also attended the University of New Haven, earning a degree in Police Sciences. Gene also served as an instructor at Mattatuck Community College through 1998. From 1953 through 2005 he devoted thousands of hours of volunteer time to the Waterbury Red Cross as a swimming, first aid and CPR instructor.
Besides his wife Viola of 60 years, he leaves two sons, Michael Falcone and his wife Karen of Wolcott, Eugene Falcone, Jr. “Chip” and his wife Jamie of Deerfield Beach, Florida; three daughters, Jean Marie Stream and her husband Steve of Rossville, Illinois, Cindy Scannapieco and her husband Frank of Clarence, New York, Barbara Mautte and her husband Marc of Ashland, Virginia; a sister, Annabelle Parent of New Haven; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Alfonse Falcone and a sister Rosemary (Falcone) Creed.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Full Military Honors, will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
