Robert Max Williams

U.S. Veteran

Robert Max “Mackey” Williams of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully Friday night at Ben Hur nursing home. He was 84.

Born April 29, 1928 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Fred and Mary Elizabeth Kendrick Williams. He attended Crawfordsville schools until enlisting in the United States Army. During his service, he spent time stationed in Germany.

On June 15, 1968 he married Elaine Loretta Jorgensen at Crawfordsville. She survives.

He retired from Mid-States Wire and also did construction work as well as working for the Crawfordsville Country Club and the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting and was a member of the American Legion.

Additional surviving family include his daughter Tammy (Doug) King of Crawfordsville, son Gary (Rosie) Williams of California, son Jerry (Grace) Williams of California, son Barry (Brenda) Williams of Crawfordsville, daughter Roxann (Rex) Wilson of Muncie, son Greg Simms of Crawfordsville, daughter Shelly (John) Vasquez of Crawfordsville, daughter Judi (Charlie) Richmond of Crawfordsville, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his brother, Fred Williams Jr. and children Glenda Parish, Becky Simms and Shell Billingsley.

A funeral service will be 1:00pm Tuesday at Burkhart Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North with military rites performed by the American Legion and V.F.W. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of service.
