Donald Floyd McCollister, 65, of Nelsonville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2013 at The Ohio State University Wexner Center in Columbus. He was born July 16, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana, son of the late Floyd “Zeke” and Clementine “Judy” Russo McCollister Jr. Donald was married for 46 years to Mary Jolley McCollister, who survives.
He retired from Logan Clay Products and was a Supply Truck Driver in Pleiku for the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Donald was a member of the Nelsonville Nazarene Church and coached little league for the Nelsonville City League and Athens County League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Christy (Anthony) Johnson of Glouster; grandchildren D.J. McCollister and Michael Johnson and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Jo (Charles) McCollister of Wilkesville and Carol Anne (Roy) Sheets of Nelsonville.
Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Ed True officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
