On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, God called Clarice Clevern Tardy age 76, of San Bernardino, CA, home from a local hospital. Her homegoing service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in the Boughton community of Prescott, Arkansas with Bro. Lonnie Hughes Pastor, Officiating. The final resting place of her earthly body will be in Washington Hill Cemetery in Boughton, while her soul is gone on to Glory.
Born, January 26, 1936, Clarice Tardy spent her childhood on a farm in Prescott, Arkansas, lived part of her adolescence in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to San Bernardino, California when she was eighteen years of age. There, she met and married Mr. James Lee Tardy, Sr. in 1956. Their union produced six children.
Determined to complete her education and fulfill her lifelong dream to become a teacher, Clarice obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Social Sciences from California State University at San Bernardino in 1973. She belonged to the Delta Row Sorority. Clarice was hired by the San Bernardino City Unified Schools District as an elementary school teacher. She taught third and fourth grade at Kendall Elementary School and retired in 1995. Clarice enjoyed many hobbies: reading, surfing the internet, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, and singing.
Clarice became a Christian at an early age and found comfort in following the Lord’s path. She was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Mary Magdalene Mission Circle and sang in the Sanctuary Choir until she was no longer able to serve. Clarice was a devout Christian, a model mother and wife, and a respected citizen of San Bernardino, California.
She is survived by her spouse, Mr. James Tardy; her sister, Mrs. Mary Hudson, of Barstow, California; six children: Ms. Jamilly Tardy-Anderson, Mr. James L. Tardy, Jr., Mr. Jock D. Tardy, Mr. Thomas J. Tardy, Ms. Jennifer Martin, and Mr. Jeremiah E. Tardy; eleven grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
