Nancy M. (Bullard) Guinn

Nancy M. (Bullard) Guinn, 89, of Bear, DE, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care of Delaware, Newark, DE. She was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late William A. and Edith M. (Parker) Bullard.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an older brother William Bullard, Jr. and two younger sisters; Florence Spencer and Alberta Patterson.

Nancy was married Sept. 14, 1948 to Homer K. Guinn, who preceded her in death Sept. 1990. The couple was happily married for 42 years.

Surviving are her three daughters; Hope (Ronald) Barnett of Carmel, IN, Edith (Anthony) Allmon of Spring Valley, CA and Ada (Wendell) Newby, Sr. of Bear, DE, four grandchildren; Devin and Kayla Allmon of Spring Valley, CA and Gennell and Wendell Newby, Jr. of Virginia and five great grandchildren.

Nancy was very independent and traveled extensively vacationing in Puerto Rico and Aruba and visiting family and friends in Los Angeles, Denver, CO and Wilmington, DE. She valued education and when all three of her daughters were in college, Nancy returned to school and obtained a certification as a nursing assistant.

She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry and past member of the Women’s Prayer Circle.

Nancy loved her chocolate and enjoyed working puzzles. Her bright smile and kind words will be missed by all.

Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 11 am until time of services at 1:00 pm with Minister Brad Johnson officiating. A light luncheon will be held at the First Christian Church following the funeral. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.
