Louis A. Allegretto, 85, of 4438 Rasselas Rd., Wilcox, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 16 at the Kane Community Hospital in Kane following a brief illness.
He was born on April 29, 1927 in Elmira, N.Y., son of the late Louis D. and Clara Markert Allegretto.
He married Patty Eaton on June 28, 1947; she preceded him in death in 1979. He later married Vona Lee Walters in 1981; she survives. He lived in the Wilcox area most of his life. He attended Wilcox schools and received his GED in 1964 at 47 years old. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Johnsonburg, and was a current member of both the Wilcox Municipal Authority and the Wilcox Water Authority.
He was employed by St. Marys Metal Finishing for eight years, retiring in 1992. He had also worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. for eight years, IPM for eight years and Al Beaver Motor Homes for 12 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cathy Howard of Johnsonburg and Joan Allegretto of Rasselas; two sons, Larry Allegretto of Rasselas and Raymond Allegretto of Wilcox; one stepdaughter; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Colleen, Mrs. John Brown and David Dorley and his companion Donna, all of Ridgway; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Allegretto and his wife of Norma of Bradford, and Albert Allegretto of Rasselas; and one sister, Beatrice, Mrs. Frank Atkins of Arden, N.C.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Edward, Raymond, Ted and Milton Allegretto; four sisters, Carmella Sample, Julianne and Marie Allegretto, and another sister in infancy; and a step-grandson, Tim Brown.
A private visitation for Louis A. Allegretto will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 after 2 p.m. at the Wilcox American Legion, Clarion Street, Wilcox. If desired, memorials may be made to the Elk/McKean County Nurses Association
