Harriet Ruth Monde passed away at Rolling Plains Hospital on January 12, 2013. She was 81 years old.
Services will be held at McCoy Chapel of Memories at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 with Reverend David Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.
Ms. Monde was born in Burwell, Nebraska on December 5, 1931. Harriet and Major Bennet B. Monde married on August 7, 1955 in McAllen, Texas. She lived in Sweetwater since 1966. Harriet taught school for over 25 years at Sweetwater I.S.D. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the retired Officer Wives Club. She loved gardening, mysteries and reading mysteries, and Friday nights with Bev Brown. Those of you who know Harriet Monde will understand the following announcement: she said, “ Give it a few days for things to settle down, then Ben and I would love to have you come by for a visit.”
Survivors include: Son- Robert Monde, his wife, Phyllis, and their children, Kyle and Tara, of Leander, Texas; 4 Daughters- Lisa Guelker, her husband, Welton, and their children, Erik, Lenah, Billy, and Kristie, of Sweetwater, Linda Thompson and her husband, Carter, of Coleman, TX, Inga Farquhar, her husband, James, and their children, Kristopher and Brittney, of Colorado City, Laura Briley and her children, Callie, Justin, Aaron, Andrew, and AJ of Frisco, TX; Brother- Robert Young and his wife, Arlene, of Concord, CA; 15 Great-grandchildren; and Air Force service wife and life-long friend, Bev Brown.
Pallbearers will be Erik Clayton, Kyle Monde, Kristopher Farquhar, Billy Guelker, Justin Thornton, and Aaron Vernon.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.
