Curtright, Marcella Jeanne (Smith). Born February 19, 1930, Marcella died peacefully at her home on January 7 after a long bout with Parkinson’s Disease. A Los Angeles native, Marcella was a graduate of Manual Arts High (1947) and the University of Southern California (1951), where she received her BA in German. She received her Master's in English in 1983 from Cal State Dominguez Hills, attending Oxford University as part of her coursework. For 30 years, she had her own writing, editing, and typing business, assisting hundreds of people in completing their Masters and Doctoral degrees. She finished her career as a Lead Technical Writer at Hughes Aircraft. In retirement, she continued to write, travel extensively and spend time in her garden. Married for 43 years to Gilbert L Curtright, she is survived by their four children, John, Anne, David and Melanie Curtright; her brother, Marvin Smith; her grandsons, Adam Koerner, and Nick and Eli Curtright; and by 4 great grandchildren. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a witty, brilliant, beautiful, and consistently fair and generous person. She will be very sorely missed by all of her friends and family members. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11:00 A.M., at the A.M. Gamby Funeral Home, 25001 Narbonne Ave., Lomita, CA 90717. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aids Project Los Angeles (APLA), and to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
