Ryan Alan McCoy, 33, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday morning, January 11, 2013 at home.
The family will greet friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 5:00 until 6:45 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Ryan was born June 30, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Rock Alan and Brenda Sue (Burkle) McCoy. He was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and attended Scott Community College. Ryan was employed by the Scott Area Recycling Center of Davenport for many years.
He was an avid sports fan and liked to play baseball and basketball. Ryan received various medals and ribbons for Special Olympics competition. He was recognized by his employer for his years of faithful service. Ryan also enjoyed music, going to wrestling matches and walking in the Niami Walks.
Surviving are his mom, Brenda Burkle and her fiance Darryl Lively of Bettendorf; his grandpa, LaVern Burkle of Davenport; uncles, Daivd Burkle of Illinois, and Paul Burkle of Missouri; his girlfriend, Michelle Schaecker of Davenport; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandma, Shirley Burkle; his father, Rocky; and his grandparents, Albert and Betty McCoy.
