Johnnie Day, Jr.

Mr.  Johnnie Day Jr., 88, formerly of McKenney, departed this earthly life peacefully, Tuesday night, January 8, 2013 at his residence.   Johnnie was born May 28, 1924 to the late John Day Sr. and Mamie Blackwell Day.  He was a member of Big Bethel Baptist Church McKenney, Virginia. In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife Bessie Fisher Day, a son Willie A Mark; two grandsons:  Marlon Jones and Michael Day; two sisters:  Lillian E. Coleman and Julia Day Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted daughter, Deneen Person (Charles) of McKenney; 2 sons, Theodore Day (Stephanie) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Clarence Marks of Richmond, Va.; a granddaughter he raised, Angela King (Kevin) of Richmond;  seventeen  grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great- grandchildren; one brother-in-law James N. Coleman of Blackstone, Va.; two sisters-in-law:  Louise F. Hunter of Richmond, Va. and Helen Fisher of  Petersburg, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to include, Fain Washington, Rev .Wanda F. Wallace, Ricky and Ashton Coleman. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the McKenney Chapel – Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home with Rev Wanda F. Wallace officiating.  Burial will commence at First Baptist Church Cemetery, McKenney.  Family will assemble at 1:30 pm at the funeral home on the day of the service.
