Vincent C. Gorman, Jr.

U.S. Veteran

Vincent C. Gorman, Jr. 73, of Media, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, passed away January 4, 2013 at his residence in Riddle Village. Born in Philadelphia to the late Vincent C. and Elizabeth (Duffy) Gorman, he was raised in Doylestown. He recieved his BA from Widener University and his M.ED from the College of William and Mary. During his 20-year Army career, he served two tours in Vietman, was Commander of the 42nd MP detachment in Germany, taught Security at the MP School at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and was Professor of Military Science at Widener University from 1979-1983. While at Widener, he expanded the enrollment by starting ROTC programs at Villanova, West Chester, and Cheyney Universities. Retiring from the US Army in 1983, he became director of the Annual Fund and Planned Giving at Widener from 1983-1986. From 1986 to the present, he was a Registered Broker and Financial Consultant, and Certified Financial Planner with numerous financial banks, the most recent being First Niagra Bank. Inspired by the example of public service set by his father and mother, he was active in many professionial and community organizations: Active member (PMC)- Widener University Alumni Association, Past Chairman PMC Museum, Past President Media Historical Society and Delaware County Historical Society, Past President Delaware County Estate Planning, Past Commander American Legion Post 93, Media, Pa., Member VFW Media, recently appointed to Riddle Village Board of Directors. Survived by wife of 40 years Nelda Gunn Gorman, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. R&F are invited to his Funeral Mass Wed. Jan. 9 at 10:30am in Nativity of the BVM Church 30 E. Franklin St. Media, calling 9-10:15am. Interment Calvary Cemetery Media.
