James Paul Altice, age 70 of Rocky Mount was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 4, 2013. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a trucker driver for 48 years, and retired in 2012. You could see James out riding on his tractor, motorcycle, in the garden or hayfields. He loved getting hogs and raising them for the family and being a cattle farmer. James also enjoyed playing with the grandchildren and playing cards with anyone at his home. He also enjoyed cooking his famous Peanut Butter Cookies for Christmas. James was a member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren. James is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Altice to whom he was married to for 49 years; his son, Eddie Altice (Becky); daughters, Caroline Arrington (Kevin), Lesley Tuner (Wesley); grandchildren, Amber, Travis, Whitney, Luke, Trevor, Billie Jo, Jamie, Shane, Haley and, Zachary; great-grandchildren, Westin and Alice; brothers, Doug Altice, Poochie Altice (Vickie); sister, Mildred Pagans (Darrell); aunts, Annie (Ethel) Robertson, Mary Jane Jones and Dee Moore (Norman); numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion, Peppi. James was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Clifford (Charlie) and Mary Elizabeth Altice; uncle, Tom Robertson, Dallas Jones, Paul Jones, Billy Jones; aunt Pauline ; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. John W. Altice. Funeral services will be conducted from Henry Fork Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Ronald Coleman and Bro. Richard Arrington officiating. Interment will follow in the Robertson Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Henry Fork Church of the Brethren.
