William “Bill” Kerr, Jr., 68, of Purvis, died January 2, 2013, at Forrest General Hospital. There will be a gathering of friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at Moore Funeral Home in Purvis.
Mr. Kerr was a Security Officer at Camp Shelby, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from BellSouth and from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was a deputy. Bill also taught swimming for 25 years in Slidell before moving to Purvis. He was an avid animal lover, rescuer and supporter of Hub City Humane Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and William Kerr, Sr. and brother, Gerald Kerr.
He is survived by his wife, Jacklyn “Jackie” Kerr of Purvis; two daughters, Karen Owens of Petal and Kristie (Tony) Arena of Picayune; and two grandchildren, Megan and Michelle Owens of Petal.
