David Milton Wilcox

U.S. Veteran

David Milton Wilcox passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, January 4, 2013 at St Elizabeth Central in Lafayette, IN. He was 81 years old.

Born June 20, 1931 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Laban and Lucille (Good) Wilcox. He graduated from Remington High School in 1949 and Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering. During his time at Purdue, he served a 2-year tour in the Army. After graduation, he joined INDOT, and was District Engineer of the Crawfordsville District before retirement.

He was an avid Purdue fan, and a member of the John Purdue Club. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge #50, Crawfordsville, Crawfordsville Country Club, and Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church.

He married Virginia Hayworth on October 11th, 1958, at the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife Virginia Wilcox, daughter Susan Wilcox Grundy of Crawfordsville, son Bruce (Candra) Wilcox of Loveland, CO. His six grandchildren include Travis (Cassi) Grundy, and Haley Grundy of Crawfordsville, Sean (Molly) Grundy of Lafayette, IN., Jacob and Phillip Wilcox of Loveland, CO.; and Meagan (Dan) Whitmer of Columbus, GA. He enjoyed his great-grandsons Jackson and Kaden Grundy of Crawfordsville, and Milo Whitmer of Columbus, GA.

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, January 8th at 11 a.m. at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends and Family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 7th, at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church.
