Vincie Rose Armato passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning of January 2, 2013, after a courageous five-and-a-half year battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 54.
Vincie was born on February 21st, 1958. She graduated from St. Pius X High School class of ‘76. She was a hairdresser for 30 years caring for the heads and hearts of countless people. She was an accomplished cook, compassionate friend, devoted daughter, loving sister, dedicated wife, proud mother, and expecting Nana.
She is survived by a legacy of people who celebrate her life including; her husband Andrew Armato, son Michael Armato and his wife Kara, son Matthew Armato, and son Marcus Armato and his longtime girlfriend Megan Slaughter. She is also survived by her parents William and Mary Gianchino, her husband’s parents Peter and Teresa Armato, her siblings and their spouses Gina and Terry Presko, Sam and Laura Gianchino, Trisha and Dave Sapenaro, Mary and Richard Hergott, nine beautiful nieces and eight nephews, and many countless loving friends. Three very special people in Vincie’s life included her good friend Kit Welsh, her “sister friend” Margaret Mancuso, and her best friend Mary Hergott. Her pallbearers will be her nephews Peter Dawson, Andre Carballe, Casey Presko, Nick Presko, Joe Gianchino, Sam Gianchino, Ryan Sapenaro, and Danny Sapenaro. Her honorary pallbearers are Richard Hergott and Russell Bock. Her family would like to thank everyone for the countless cards and letters she received over the past years. She cherished them dearly.
The visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th St., Kansas City, MO 64155, on Friday, January 4th from 4 to 9 p.m. with a vigil and rosary service at 5 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 5th at 10 a.m. at the Church, followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
