Beloved Son, Husband, Step-parent, Grandparent, Age 67. Passed away at his Saint Paul home surrounded by friends and family on January 1, 2013. Born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia on January 11, 1945. Son of Ukrainian émigrés who resided in a refugee camp prior to his family’s relocation to the USA in 1950 after a University of Minnesota professor sponsored his father, a renowned artist of the Ukrainian diaspora. Proceeded in death by father Olexa Bulavitsky; mother-in-law Irene Ulrich; and nephew Brent Ulrich. Survived by wife Eileen Ulrich, mother Nina Bulavitsky, brother Andrew Bulavitsky, step-children Erik Beeler and Jessica Beeler (Warren Young), and grandchildren Ella, Tamir, Maceo, and Ezra. Also survived by countless family, friends, and colleagues who held vigil at his bed as he succumbed to cancer. A lifelong nurse who demonstrated great care for his patients; Vasil deeply honored music, art, and the natural world, and wholeheartedly appreciated all who surrounded him. Our deep and abiding love will follow him wherever he travels. Visitation Friday, January 4 from 5-7:30 pm, prayer 7:30-8 pm. Funeral service Saturday, January 5 at 11am, luncheon to follow.
