William L. “Bill” Davis, 68 of Loda died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Loda with Rev. Jose Kadukunnel officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Davis was born June 3, 1944 in Paxton the son of Vincent Leroy and Josephine Marie Streff Davis. He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother of Loda; one brother, John (Grace) Davis of Bement; three sisters, Barbara (Jim) Sutton of Ottawa, Annette Davis of Rantoul, Marlene Davis of Peoria; six nieces and nephews; ten great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.

Bill graduated from Buckley-LodaHigh School in 1962. He had a diverse entrepreneurial career which included a car dealership, barber shop, pool hall, insurance sales and marketing environmental products. Before returning to Loda in 1996, he lived in several communities including Champaign for 15 years.

Mr. Davis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Loda and a Sir Knight of the 4th Degree Assembly of 3197 at Paxton. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Champaign County Rifle Association and a member of the Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue and Care Center, Colfax. He loved animals and enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially Illini football. Bill did not know a stranger and will be missed by his many friends.

Memorials may be made to Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue and Care Center, Carle Hospice or an organization of the donor’s choice.
