Our hearts are filled with sorrow at the sudden tragic death of our beloved mother, Carolyn Jeanette Scales. She answered God’s summons to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 in her home.
She was born on February 18, 1957 in Holly Hill, South Carolina
Jeanette grew up on Holly Hill and attended the Orangeburg County District Three public school system and graduated from Roberts High School.
She was a fun loving person affectionately known to friends as “Net.” She was always joking and kept you laughing all of the time. Her home was always filled with friends. She allowed persons who had no place of their own to move in and live there temporarily.
Jeanette was an extremely good cook and was employed by several restaurants in the area.
At an early age, she attended Greater Target A.M.E. Church with her aunt, who cared for her at the death of her mother. Later in life, she joined Lovely Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Emma Catherine Russell Scales, and a grandson, Kenyon Scales.
Those left to cherish fond memories: a daughter, Decole Scales Washington, of North Charleston, SC; a son, Quran Scales, of the home; her father, Reverend James Council, of Salters, SC; four grandchildren, Raven Octavia, Se ‘Darius and Quran, Jr., all of Holly Hill, SC and Dominique Scales, of Bowman, SC; two sisters, Beverly Graham, of Salters, SC and Della (James) Hill, of Jonesville, SC; one aunt, Eugenia R.
