Raymond Fleming

U.S. Veteran

Our Lord and Savior called home our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Raymond Fleming, on December 11, 2012. Born July 31, 1941 in Paxton, Florida to Cary and Anie Fleming. Raymond attended school in Florala, Alabama where he lettered four years in track. He was the Alabama high school state champion in the hundred yard dash and held the states best time for years. Raymond served his state and country in the Alabama National Guard, Company C in Florala for 27 years. He loved to cook and was known for his home-style ribs and lima beans. When he wasn't cooking for his family and friends he was tending to his garden. Raymond was an avid fisherman and spent hundreds of hours in lakes around Walton County and south Alabama. His biggest legacy, however, is the immeasurable mark he left on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known to them as Daddy and "PaPa" , he will forever hold a dear and precious place in each of their hearts. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Hannah Hanscom. Raymond is survived by two daughters, Kathy Stanton of Samson, AL and Cherie Hanscom of New Harmony, one son, Joshua Fleming and fiance, Linda Richardson of Samson, AL, one grandson, Logan Scofield, four great grandchildren, special friends, Paul and Oleen Holland, and mother of his children, Jewel Hobbs, additionally the Fleming family would like to thank Covenant Hospice especially their daddy's nurses who were like family, Amanda, Kim, Carla, and Tracy. Funeral services for Raymond Fleming will be 2PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Evans Funeral Home with James Preachers and James Pickron officiating. Interment will follow at Florala Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Friday at Evans Funeral Home. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at wwwevansfuneralhomeal.com
