Merton Babcock, a native of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 12, 2012 in Savannah, GA following a lengthy illness. He was 68 years old.
Merton attended public schools in Duval County (Jacksonville) and later through apprenticeships studied to be an electrician. He became a Master Electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). After 50 years of working as an electrician/craftsman, he became disabled and retired.
Merton Babcock was a loving father to his five children: Kenneth, Keith, Richard, Lauren and Johnathon Babcock. He was also a caring brother and is survived by his three sisters: Lea Perego, Pia Bunnell and Dale Sykes. Also cherishing his memory are his eight grandchildren, dozens of nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends. He is remembered as being a man who cared for all children as if they were his own.
Mr. Babcock’s remains have been entrusted to Low Country Cremation. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
