Carrie Braham DeWitt

Carrie Braham DeWitt, 87, of Bayard, WV passed away at the home of her daughter Pam in Elkins on Sunday December 9, 2012.

She was born on August 19, 1925 at Snyder Crossing near Kingwood. She was the daughter, of the late Robert and Ermyntrude Salisbury of Kingwood.

She was known in Bayard as “grandma” to all who knew and loved her. Carrie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bayard, the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered a lot of her time and traveling with the Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her three daughters, Christine (Christy) and companion Robert Broadwater of Bayard, Pam Gifford and husband Jim of Elkins and Nanette VanDevender and husband, Bob of Elkins; two sons, David and wife Debbie of Bayard and Robert (Bobby) and wife Kay of Kingwood; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; five sisters, Delores Miller of Lexington KY, Elaine Scott of Tucson AZ, Donna Albright of Albright, Shirley Hartsell and Carolyn Moore of Kingwood; one brother, Robert Dyane Braham of Newton NC.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert DeWitt, two sisters, Ruth Wiles and Peggy Runner and five brothers, James, William, Ralph, Glenn and Freddie.

Family and friends may call at the Bayard United Methodist Church in Bayard, WV on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 6-8pm and at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, Wednesday, December 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1pm with the Reverend Anthony Judy officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
