Mary was born Dec. 15, 1925 in Powers, Mich. to Frank and Coretta (Hartho) Osier, and died peacefully on Dec. 8, 2012. She graduated in 1943 from Spalding Township High School and in 1947 from Michigan State University, majoring in home economics and education.
In 1948, she married George R. Brukardt and they settled in Marinette, Wis. Mary taught high school for many years and raised three children: David (Mary Jane) of Middleton and Eau Claire; Robert, Neenah; and Carol Wessel, Appleton. In the mid-1960s, the family moved to the Fox River Valley where they lived for several decades. George died in September 2011.
Mary is survived by her children and by her sister Emily Mogle of Tucson, Arizona. She also is survived by her grandchildren: Katy (Max) Siegel; Bethany Brukardt; Robyn Brukardt; Serenity Wessel; Amber Brukardt; and Sailor Brukardt; by sister-in-law Doris Brukardt of Escanaba, Mich.; and by various nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at Martin Luther Church in Neenah, with Rev. Jason Oakland officiating. Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Mary’s family would like to acknowledge and thank those who have provided loving care and support for Mary, especially Dr. Raman Ashta, and the highly dedicated and compassionate staffs at both Prairie Home and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund or to a church or charity of your choice.
