Harold E. Alford, age 79, passed away peacefully, on December 1, 2012 at his home in Warsaw, surround by his girls. He was born on March 18, 1933, the son of Charles and Laura Fergerson Alford in Kansas City, Missouri.
He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from the Rock Creek West School in Independence, Missouri. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean war until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Following the service he was employed as a truck driver and spent 36 years with the Teamsters union local #41 out of Kansas City. On December 24, 1985 he was united in marriage to Michelle O’Dowd. He retired in May of 1991 and in August of 1991 they moved from their home in Independence to Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Wilbur Alford and one brother in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home, two daughters, Chante and her husband Nick Burch, Tanya and her husband Randy Reed, both of Warsaw, a sister Lorene and her husband Richard Hicks, of Independence, two granddaughters, his honey bunch, Aliecia Jade Burch and his honey bee Jasmine Nevaeh Reed, several nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. His wife, Michelle, doesn’t want anyone to cry for Harold and wants people to be happy because he isn’t suffering anymore.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 8, 2012 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw at 10:30 am with Rev. Bill Hix, officiating. Cremation will be at the Kaysinger Crematory in Warsaw under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at the Valley Bar at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 8, 2012.
