Longtime Blythe resident Gerald F. McCarthy "Jerry," passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2012. He was 85.
Jerry was born on Oct. 4, 1927, in Chicago, Ill. but he lived in Beverly Hills, Calif. during his childhood years.
Jerry came to Blythe to attend Palo Verde College in 1946. He met and married Lois Amerman in 1951; they raised three children, Gregg, Vickie, and Patrick.
Jerry served as a merchant marine in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the local Elks Lodge and the V.F.W. Jerry owned and operated Sanitary Plumbing for many years.
Jerry is survived by his children, Gregg (Vickie) McCarthy, Vickie McCarthy, and Patrick (Mindy) McCarthy; grandchildren, Roxxanne Kraft, Michael Ellsworth, Mark Moxon, Derek McCarthy, Michael Cummings, Chris Cummings, Robert Cummings, and Bradley McCarthy; and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McCarthy.
Services for Jerry will be held at Blythe Church of the Nazarene, 131 N. 2nd St., Blythe at 10 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local cancer society.
