Frank Charles Briden Frank, 65 years old, died peacefully in his home Thursday morning in Tacoma, November 27, 2012. He was born August 9, 1947 in Browning, Montana on the Blackfeet Indian reservation. He attended Cut Bank Boarding School and graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division and trained cadets at West Point Academy. Frank worked in the Seattle/Tacoma area as a cement mason for 35 years. He was a member of the Union 528 Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons. Frank enjoyed playing with the Indian Basketball League in the Northwest. Frank participated as a Sundancer in the "Goes In the Air" Sundance in St. Helens, Oregon. His Indian name is "Mountain Owl".
Frank is survived by his wife Sarah Briden, son Lorne Briden, daughters Rondina Briden of Tacoma and Marla Rides At The Door of Browning, MT, stepson Pernell Wilson of Shiprock, NM, and stepdaughters Marsha and Shannon Wilson of Tacoma. He had 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Frank is the son of the late Rose OwlChild and Elmer Briden. He is survived by three brothers, Bill and Allen Briden of Fife, and Joseph Briden of Portland, OR, and four sisters, Lois (William) Sharp of Browning, MT, and Gertrude (William) Brown, Elaine and Grace Briden of Tacoma. He was preceded in death by Janice, Lorraine, and James Briden.
Viewing will be Wednesday, November 28th and Thursday, November 29th at 8214 East B Street, Tacoma, 98404. The Rosary will be Thursday, November 29th at 7 p.m. at the same address. The service will be Friday, November 30th at 12:00 p.m. at St. Leo Church, 710 S. 13th Street, Tacoma, 98405. His burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma.
