Bernard joined his parents, Fred S. and Christina (Mabel) Deinlein in their heavenly home on November 23, 2012 at Highland Park Hospital. Bernard was the fifth child to be born on the family farm in Fremont Center, Grayslake, IL. on September 27, 1928. He was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation parish where he received all the sacraments and served as an altar boy. He attended St. Mary’s School and Fremont Center Grade School. After graduation, as was the custom with male children, he worked on the family farm until he relocated with his parents to Waterloo, Wisconsin. He continued farming until illness required him to enter Brentwood North in Riverwoods, Illinois at the age of 53. He was a resident there until November 22nd when he was admitted to Highland Park Hospital. Bernard loved to play bingo, charm the staff with his singing, and soon became a favorite with the Brentwood family. He especially enjoyed caring for his Christmas cactus and making sure it flowered every Christmas. Bernard was an avid outdoorsman, loved to deer hunt, fish for walleye, and snowmobile. His dog “Blackie” was his favorite companion. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Christina (Mable) , three brothers, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his three sisters, Genevieve Carsten, Lorraine Amann and Marion (Jack) Henderson and a sister in law who will miss his wonderful smile and visits at Brentwood. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the compassion and caring of his Brentwood family, the Eucharistic ministers from the Holy Cross Parish Deerfield, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Paramedics and all those who made his last years comfortable. A mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bernard’s life will be held on December 1, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church. Friends and relatives will be able to visit from 10 AM Saturday until the time of mass at church. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Mary of the Annunciation Church 22333. W. Erhart Rd. Mundelein, IL. 60060. For information visit or call 847-566-8020.
