Virginia Alice Brink

Virginia Alice (Langenfeld) Brink, 94 of Centralia passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia. She was born July 19, 1918 in Centralia, daughter of Peter Langenfeld and Dora (Brown) Langenfeld. She married Howard Brink Sr. on June 7, 1947 in Centralia at St. Mary's Catholic Church Rectory and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1983. Mrs. Brink is survived by two sons: Howard Brink, Jr. of Centralia and Stephen Brink and wife Cathy of Centralia; a daughter Beth Mahkoutz and husband Tom of Carlinville; five grandchildren: Brian Brink and wife Jessica of Granite City, Julie (Brink) Semith and husband Joe of Edwardsville, Jennifer Brink and partner Brooke of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jared Mahkoutz of Carlinville and Joshua Mahkoutz and wife Brittany of Auburn; four great-grandchildren: Noah, Mia, and Grant Semith and Beckham Brink; three step-great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Brayden and Austin Kuberski a sister Teresa Langenfeld; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven brothers: Cecil Langenfeld, Cliff Langenfeld, John Langenfeld, Raymond Langenfeld, Ed Langenfeld, Harold Langenfeld, and Bob Langenfeld and two sisters: Cathyrn Langenfeld and Margaret Holle. Mrs. Brink spent many years at home raising her children and then worked and retired from Sears in Centralia. She found her greatest joy spending time with her family and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a livelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centralia, of the St. Mary's Alter Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Brink will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Centralia with Father Justin Olisaemeka and Father James Nall officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia. Friends may call from 4:00 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to St. Mary’s School and will be received at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
