On Thursday, November 15, 2012, God called Virgil Wilson age 67 of Prescott, Arkansas home. His Home Going Service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Munn’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ivory Curry officiating. Final resting place for his Earthly remains will be in Washington Cemetery in Boughton, Arkansas. Funeral care entrusted to Brandon’s Mortuary, Hope, Arkansas.
Virgil was known in the community as the “Basketball man”. He was a graduate of McRae High School and attended Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, AR. After college he moved to Bakersfield, California and joined the Harlem Globetrotters and traveled the world. After playing basketball he started to coach in the League teams around the city of Bakersfield. He was employed with the city of Bakersfield Police Department.
Virgil was married to the Rebecca Wilson and to this union one son was born Divia Wilson, later he would spend his life with a special friend Candace Madrid. They would share a special relationship with their children: Conrad Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, Shaquille Wilson, Dykstra Wilson, Gellonie Wilson, Hakeem Wilson, Idazawai Wilson and Jerrett Madrid, He is also survived by four brothers: Nathan Tidwell, of Prescott, AR, Jerry Mitchell, of Bakersfield, CA, John Nolen and Ronnie Nolen, SR both of Prescott, AR; three sisters: Pearl Anthony, Jo Ann Latin and Ruthie Fellows all of Prescott, AR and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday November 19, 2012 from 5 until 6 pm at Brandon’s Mortuary Hope
