U.S. Veteran

Jimmie Legree Douglas, 77, of Summerville, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 after a short battle with cancer.

Jimmie was born on March 31, 1935 in Rimini, SC son of the late Johnnie L. Douglas and Evelyn Kizer Douglas. He is survived by his two daughters, Sally Douglas-Brown Cate of Summerville and Susanne Foster (Bill) of Orange Park, FL, One brother and One sister, Harold Douglas of Beaufort, SC and Sandra Norfolk of Statesboro, GA, his grandchildren, Keri Bernhart (Lonny) of St. Marys, GA, Kelly Foster of Vero Beach, FL, Ryan Brown of St. Marys, GA and Troy Amerson of Summerville, SC, his three great grand children, Mackenzie Bernhart and Mason Bernhart of St. Marys, GA and Monica Castro of St. Marys, GA and his very special friend, Willa Mae Ramsey and her family of St. George, SC.

Jimmie graduated from Summerville High School. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Jimmie loved working outdoors, watching football and especially relaxing on his front porch. He was the maintenance supervisor for KOA Campgrounds and Plantation Acres Mobile Home Park. Jimmie would like to be remembered as a loving father to his two daughters, Sally and Susanne, a wonderful brother to his siblings, the best Grandfather ever and the best friend of 30 years to Willa Mae.

His memorial service will be held at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Oakbrook Chapel, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville at 2 o’clock PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012. The family will be receiving visitors at the Oakbrook Chapel beginning at 1 o’clock PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Hospice, 501 Deanna Lane, Charleston, SC 29492.
