John Daniel Kenney Father, “Pa”, Brother, and Veteran

Died peacefully in God’s presence surrounded by his family on November 13, 2012. Preceded in death by loving wife of 57 years, Kathy; parents Jane and Daniel Kenney; sister Patty; and brothers Tom, Bob, and Dave; sister-in-law Mary; brother-in-law Bill Osborne; and infant granddaughter Sean; and many cherished relatives. Survived by children and their spouses Colleen and Dennis Bracco, Dan and Mariann Kenney, Bill Kenney and Maggie Kilpatrick, Kassy Kenney and Mike Adam, and John Kenney. Loving “Pa” of Patrick (Maggie), Erin, and Eileen Bracco; Nicole Kenney; Jack and Charlie Kenney; Maeve, Liam, and Emmett Adam. Also survived by brothers Tim and Jim Kenney; sister-in-laws Mary Ellen, Rosemary, Gerrie, and Dolly Kenney, Irene Osborne and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

John was raised on the West Side of St. Paul and was a graduate of Humbolt High School. He enjoyed 51 years with Patterson Dental Supply Company and served in the army in WW II and Korea. He was a decorated veteran receiving the Bronze Star. John had a quick wit, always had a story to tell, was an active volunteer, and welcomed everyone to his table. His favorite role was being "Pa" to his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his values of Faith, Family, and Friends. His Irish Spirit lives on in all he touched.

Special thanks to the caregivers at Carondolet Village, Sholom Home of St. Paul, and the Sisters of St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Provential House Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 1880 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul. Visitation from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Carondolet Village Chapel 525 Fairview Avenue, St. Paul. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday at 10 am. Memorials Preferred to Friends of Chimbote (Kenney Project Fund) or donor's choice.
